Back To Homeschool Week...

Tracy posted about this on her blog last week and I have looked forward to it ever since! I am not sure how much I will be able to write about this, but I will link to my previous posts where they apply.

You can click here to read about the basics and click here to read Randi's answer to Monday's question as well as a ton of linkage to other blogs writing about the same thing :)

Because Tuesday's question involves the "how" and I certainly not qualified to answer this with actual experience behind me, I can only tell you that I plan to take the advice of seasoned homeschoolers. My first goal is to CHILL OUT. I am trying to not *over plan* but at the same time have a fairly decent schedule that we can adhere to. I am not involved in local co-ops yet, art classes, or foreign language but I certainly hope to be in the future. I need to feel my way through these first few months and let my kids direct me a bit in the area of time management. If I assign a particular block to a particular subject they may complete blow that out of the water. I love reading the schedules that other homeschoolers follow and it gives me such a wonderful starting point.

If I had to "name" our style I guess it would be a hybrid method of traditional/classical/& CHILL OUT. Is CHILL OUT an official type?

For me, there is no greater resource for homeschooling than other homeschoolers! Have a blessed week :)

"Chill Out" IS actually a style of home schooling. I like that title better than "Relaxed"! I am glad you posted for this!

I agree, it is good to get ideas from other home schoolers, but you still just have to do what works for you and your kids. We use Sonlight history and sometimes I wait until bedtime and sit on the floor in their room and read their history to them. They love that and it frees up time during the day (AND Ethan is in BED!)

I am still jealous of your camera...

still.

I'm with you, girl. We will travel this beautiful road together and hopefully have some great stories, things we laugh about next year when we "know better", and better educated kids. Do you have the butterflies yet? My stomach is about to fly away.
