Up from the grave He arose!

Low in the grave He lay, Jesus my Savior,

Waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!

Refrain

Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes,
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose!
Hallelujah! Christ arose!

Vainly they watch His bed, Jesus my Savior;
Vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord!

Refrain

Death cannot keep its Prey, Jesus my Savior;
He tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord!

Refrain Robert Lowry 1874

The choir sang this song as Chris and I were baptized together. What a symbolic day that was! God had ordained that day for the two of us to be united in this sacrament. Years of completely different testimonies and wavering professions of our faith had yet to yield obedience to this display of our love for Christ.

We did not have the "wedding day" that I had dreamed of but God had something in store...Doesn't He always?

On the day we were baptized.....it was beautiful and completely reflective of where God had brought us from...our sin and what he covered us with.....his righteousness.....and who we are now.....made new. All because of the cross. Without that atoning death, justifying us before Holy God, claiming victory over the grave and rising the third day as our Risen Lord and savior....we would still be in our grave clothes. It is Resurrection Sunday. Praise God for His provision!

"Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.' "

Mark 16:6-7

Oh sweet friend! I remember that day so well! I wasn't suppossed to turn around and look at y'all from where I was in the choir loft, but shame on me I couldn't help it!!!! I couldn't really sing anyway since I was just a blubberin' during that most amazing baptism anyway! It was the best ever....and other than my own children's baptism...still the best ever! God is good and so wonderful!

Love you dear sister in Christ!
