This was
my birthday present:

It has capabilities far beyond my very elementary ability....but I love it very much. I took these pictures of Sam from a pretty good distance and the clarity is amazing!

Several weeks of lessons and one magical moment in the pool (on his own) and our boy is finally swimming!!!

Awesome!
What lens is that? I can't see from the picture.
70-300mm telephoto zoom with the vibration reduction ;)
I am still figuring it out. I went back and linked to it on the Nikon site.
You are so technical minded (which means SMART), I'd break something. The pictures are VERY clear- good job!
Trying not to be jealous. I would love a big camera but right now have just a little digital.
Do you carry this with you, or only use for big stuff and events?
By the way I finally started a blog. I pray that it can be as moving and powerful as yours and others that I read.
Jill,
At first I still carried my small digital but I was always so disappointed in the photos that I just got a really good bag and I tend to carry it with me most places. At Disney I took it some days and left it in the room on others. It was a hard adjustment at first but I'm attached now :)
I am so tickled about your blog! Thank you for your always sweet and thoughtful words.
