Precious Quilt

Sweet Lydia made this blanket for Benjamin and I cannot believe I have not posted about it sooner. I actually found a post in my drafts but I never had a picture to put with it, so it was forgotten.


My mother-in-law sent us the most wonderful fleece blanket for Benjamin that we love and he buries his face in it every night ;) but I was still in search for something that was big enough and not fleece for the months when things got warmer. A lightweight quilt was ideal but all the ones I found were too bulky, especially the one that came with his bedding.

The girls and I fell in love with rag quilt purses a few months ago and at the same time I fell in love with the rag quilts too! (My friend Sophia can make these purses! I'll post some pics of ours later)

I started perusing the web and in the meantime Lydia just so happened to post about making her first. I chatted with her about what I was looking for and she made my quilt!

I absolutely love it and my girls want their own :) Lydia has considered taking orders and so if you guys love them too, please make a visit to her blog, Seasons, and tell her! You can use pieces that are special or sentimental and mix out colors to match your bedding. My friend, Tiff, has these quilts for her kids and they hold up wonderfully.

Lydia, I am so glad to have gotten to know you here in the blog world and since we don't live too far from one another, I know it won't be long until we meet face-to-face!

All Gussied Up!

Thank ya'll so much for your sweet words about my new blog! I have been feverishly trying to work out some glitches with Jennisa from Once Upon a Blog and I think it's finally behaving!

She was so sweet and patient with me throughout the whole ALL YOUR LINKS ARE BRIGHT BLUE AND PURPLE ordeal.

So patient.

Plus there was this whole minor detail of how I COULD NOT SEE my header. Of course everyone else was quick to tell me that they could see it fine.

That was kind of rubbing it in. It was just kind of nanny-nanny-boo-boo, ya'll.

Anyway, I found out more than I ever wanted to know about browsers and defaults and hootzie-pootzies. I will tell ya'll this. If you have the old blogger set-up you are really in the dark ages, my friend. You must update soon.

It really does make changes so much more easy and fun.

I loved working with Jennisa and I know she loved working with me and my ADD self, not to mention my blog with a serious attitude problem. I am certain it was a joy.

We spent the past few days celebrating with Jenn & Brian and the arrival of precious gift #5! Baby Carter is a beautiful little boy and we were able to spend time with them yesterday at the hospital. Jenn has already made the seamless transition to her growing family and is such a testimony of His grace and His desire to make us more like Him through serving our husband and our children with joy.

We have also been busy at church with the Don Whitney conference that was held Friday & Saturday evening and then again this morning. The title of the conference was:
Responding Biblically to the Increasing Pace and Complexity of Life.

A mouthful, huh?

Our pastor had lamented that he had hoped that this would not consist of a laundry list of things that caused more stress or overcommitments in our lives. I, on the other hand, was expecting a laundry list and since I live by one every day, I was certainly most comfortable with one.

Boy was I wrong.

Just like the books about parenting, marriage, or financial responsibilities ... when the book is truly biblically centered then the answer is Christ-centered as well.

I am pledging to share his thoughts and my notes with you this week as a way to further implant these truths into my heart. It was a blessing to Chris and I both and I would love to share that with others.

Brian's blog, Play The Man! We (Chris & I) have been blessed to be under Brian's teaching for the last 7+ years and what a blessing it has been! He serves as a teaching elder and worship leader for our church, Grace Fellowship and his zeal for God's Word is more than infectious. Oh, and his wife Jenn, is one of my dearest and closest friends!

I finally updated my sidebar to include several links to blogs that I love and have been reading for a while. I will try to write a little about each of them in the coming days (which means....if I have time or if I can remember).

For now, I'll tell you about Preschoolers and Peace. I found Kendra's blog through Kim's sidebar and I loved it from the very first visit. What an organized momma! Charts! Schedules! Ideas! Crafts! Oh, she speaketh my love language!

Plus, she has this wealth of knowledge in homeschooling and parenting, being that she is the mother of 8 precious children. I was a daily visitor to her blog when I sat down one morning just a few short weeks ago and found that their newest baby, Joseph, was not well and had been taken to the nearest hospital. Little Joe was just over a month old and over the course of several days, his little body appeared to be under viral attack. This sweet family who had shared their wisdom and love for God was in need of prayer.

I found myself in a bizarre but very real state of genuine love and concern. I didn't even really know these people. I mean, Kendra (Joe's momma) wrote with candor and humility in a way that made me feel like I knew her, but still.....this was the blog world. I prayed and watched...

• Watching this tiny baby fight through the illness that was seeking to overtake his system was so difficult.
• Watching this family glorify God daily, exemplified what it means to serve a holy and sovereign God.
• Watching their church rally around them in prayer and love brought tears to my eyes.

But.

Watching them bring home Mighty Joe, who has made a healthy recovery, has been the sweetest blessing. Even though I do not know them, I know their Savior and I have counted it a priviledge to be in prayer to Him, for them, over these last several weeks.
